Meridian Township in Michigan is seeking a qualified utility/heavy equipment operator to support water and sewer system construction and maintenance, as well as Township property management. The role requires a CDL preference and several years of equipment operation experience.

The position entails performing maintenance on equipment, responding to public inquiries, snow/ice removal, and assisting in park and facility upkeep, with a commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to respond to emergency situations at irregular hours.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment.
• Two or more years of experience in operating heavy equipment.
• Knowledge of water and sewer and facilities maintenance.

Responsabilités

• Performs basic preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment, tools and facilities.
• Operates a full range of public works vehicles, equipment and tools and maintains equipment, machinery and tools.
• Responds to complaints or inquiries from the public under the direction of the Lead Utility Worker.
• Assists with the removal of snow and ice, and the application of salt, sand and other preventive materials as directed.
• May perform maintenance and construction of water and sewer systems.
• May perform maintenance of parks, land preserves, pathways, grounds, and facilities.
• Performs related work as required.
