Job summary

The City of Fredericksburg, Virginia is seeking a Utilities Infrastructure Technician to support essential city services. You will handle FOIA requests, process permits, review development plans, and perform field inspections to ensure compliance with municipal standards.

Responsibilities include data collection and asset management, plus delivering strong customer service while coordinating with staff, contractors, developers, and regulatory agencies for water and wastewater systems.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in utilities, public works, engineering support, construction, infrastructure management, environmental services, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record that meets City criteria.

Responsibilities

• Utility Administration: manage FOIA requests and oversee the permitting process to ensure accurate documentation.
• Development and Field Inspections: review development plans and conduct field inspections to ensure municipal standards.
• Data Collection and Asset Management: collect data and manage assets for utility compliance programs and capital projects.
• Customer Service and Collaboration: provide excellent customer service and collaborate with utility staff, contractors, developers, and regulatory agencies.

Education
