Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 1–3 years of experience in utilities, public works, engineering support, construction, infrastructure management, environmental services, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license with an acceptable driving record that meets City criteria.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Relevant certificates in water distribution, wastewater collection, or utility inspection
Work Environment

Work takes place in various settings, including offices, fields, construction sites, utility facilities, and outdoor environments. Field assignments may expose employees to a range of conditions, such as changing weather patterns, uneven terrain, traffic hazards, construction activities, utility structures, grease interceptors, and wastewater-related environments, as well as noise, odors, and dust. Due to these factors, employees may be required to wear personal protective equipment and adhere to established safety protocols. Additionally, there may be occasions when work requires responding outside of regular business hours, particularly during utility emergencies, service interruptions, or other operational demands.
