Isle of Wight County seeks a Utilities Inspector to ensure piping systems and utilities in new developments and renovations comply with County specifications. The role is 85% field work and 15% administrative work, reporting to the Utilities Director.

Responsibilities include site inspections, reviewing submissions, coordinating with developers and contractors, and maintaining safety standards. A Virginia driver’s license and OSHA 30-Hour certification are required within 18 months.

Formación

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of related work experience involving water/sewer and storm water installation or related field.
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience.

Responsabilidades

• Performs site inspections of water/sewer/storm water lines, testing systems and coordinating with Utilities Operations.
• Reviews project submissions and provides comments, corrections, and requirements to developers and contractors.
• Initiates communications with contractors, homeowners, officials, staff and the public.
• Performs site inspections of capital projects under Construction Manager guidance.
• Answers telephone and provides information; returns calls as necessary.
• Prepares routine correspondence, letters, memoranda, forms, and reports.
• Observes safety and health policies in daily tasks.
• Performs other assigned duties.
