Job summary

The City of Burnsville, MN is hiring Public Works Trainees for openings in the Streets and Utilities divisions. This entry-level position performs work in operating, maintaining, and repairing street and utility systems under supervision.

This is a limited-duration, full-time, union-benefited role lasting up to two years, with training to prepare you for a Public Works Maintenance Worker position. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year in construction

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus at least 1 year of construction or maintenance experience, or an equivalent combo of education and experience.
• Valid Driver's License required; ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within 9 months.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair City streets, storm sewers, catch basins, and trails.
• Perform blacktop and concrete maintenance and repairs.
• Operate trucks and heavy equipment to haul materials, plow snow, sweep streets, and transport equipment.
• Assist with sanitary sewer cleaning operations and lift stations as assigned.
