Job summary

Elko County in Jackpot, NV seeks a Public Works Technician I to support water and sewer system operations, building maintenance and vehicle upkeep. The role requires on-call duties, possible weekend work, and overnight travel as needed. This position is safety-sensitive and may involve drug and alcohol screening.

Candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience required. A Nevada CDL-A with X endorsement is preferred, along with OSHA-30 and Water Distribution Operator

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No experience required.
• Must maintain a Nevada driver’s license and Nevada Class A CDL with an X endorsement preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour card preferred.
• Water Distribution Operator I certification within one year of hire.
• ATSSA Traffic Control Technician and Traffic Flagger Certification within one year of hire.
• Wastewater treatment Grade 1 certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the operation and maintenance of water and sewer systems.
• Assists in the maintenance of all buildings and grounds in the unincorporated towns.
• Maintains public utilities vehicles and equipment that are in the care of the department.
• Performs basic data entry.
• Maintains familiarity with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work.
• Represents the department with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation.
