Job summary

The City of Ann Arbor is seeking a dependable equipment operator to maintain city streets, support solid waste collection, and help operate water, sanitary and stormwater systems.

Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED, CDL Endorsement B with Air Brake, CDL A within six months, and prior road or utility construction experience. The starting rate is non-negotiable at $23.50/hour with a six‑month probation and comprehensive benefits.

Job description

Starting Rate: $23.50/Hour

(This rate is non-negotiable and there is a 6-month probationary period). After hire, pay increases are dependent on length of service, advancement in the position, and other contractual factors.

To safely operate light to heavy equipment for the purpose of maintenance of City streets, solid waste collection and to operate and maintain water, sanitary and stormwater systems.

Training and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
• CDL Endorsement B with Air Brake endorsement
• CDL A endorsement within 6 months of hire
• Previous experience in road maintenance, underground utility construction or landscape construction
