Job summary

Town of Williamstown is seeking a Superintendent of Public Works to lead the DPW, planning and directing operations, budgeting, and project oversight. The role Reportsto the Director of Public Works and supervises multiple DPW divisions, ensuring safe and efficient infrastructure maintenance.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and at least five years of progressively responsible public works experience, with strong management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in civil engineering, public administration, engineering, or related field.
• Five years minimum progressively responsible experience in public works operations and management, engineering, construction, facility management, or related field.
• Knowledge of public works financing and administration; strong verbal and written communication; ability to prepare and administer budgets.

Responsibilities

• Under the Director of Public Works, manages the Highway, Cemetery, Parks, Transfer Station, and Facilities Departments.
• Coordinates planning and operation of storm drainage, road construction, and major public works projects.
• Oversees division budgets, payroll, and accounts payable; supervises staff and equipment usage.
• Prepares bid specifications for construction projects and equipment; maintains department records and reports.
• Maintains safety regulations compliance and after-hours emergency response; coordinates with other departments and agencies.
