Job summary

The Town of Westerly seeks a Director of Public Works to lead engineering, utilities and operations. This exempt managerial role requires strategic oversight of multiple divisions and strong collaboration with Town officials to deliver municipal projects.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Construction Management/Public Administration, at least five years of progressive management experience in public works, and three years of supervisory responsibility; a P.E.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or Public Administration.
• At least five years of management experience in municipal public works.
• Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs, manages, leads, coordinates and mentors departmental staff.
• Plans, organizes, and provides effective leadership in managing public works programs.
• Directs all divisions of Public Works and collaborates with Town Departments.
• Develops long-range strategic and master plans for department policies.
• Oversees budget development and compliance and participates in long-range budget analysis.
• Works on cross-departmental teams to ensure effective operations of the Town.
