Job description

The City of Lomita is seeking an experienced and motivated Public Works Superintendent to lead and oversee its streets, trees, parks, and facilities crews.

Under general direction, plans, organizes, manages, and oversees the City’s field operations and maintenance programs, including streets, parks, landscaped areas, facilities, fleet, public rights-of-way, and related public infrastructure. Manages maintenance activities performed by City staff and contractors, develops operational goals, budgets, and maintenance programs. Schedules, assigns, reviews, and supervises the work of staff performing public works infrastructure and facilities operations, construction, maintenance, and repair duties within the Public Works Department; manages the operational budgets for assigned divisions; administers service contracts and capital improvement support activities; provides complex staff assistance to management staff in areas of expertise; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general direction from the Public Works Director. Exercises supervision over supervisory, technical, and maintenance staff.
