Job summary

Island County in Washington state seeks a Public Works Project Manager to lead road, trail, and drainage construction projects. Responsibilities include planning, contract administration, consultant selection, pavement inspection, and grant management coordination.

Ideal candidate has a civil engineering background, strong project management skills, and experience with interlocal agreements and budget control. State driver’s license required; internal applicants only.

Qualifications

• BS degree in civil engineering preferred; or AA in construction management or related field required.
• Minimum of two years experience in a related field.
• Valid Washington State Drivers License.
• Equivalent combination of directly related education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Plan schedules with engineering personnel and set priorities.
• Prepare, reproduce and manage plans and specifications; select consultants by roster or RFQ.
• Coordinate pavement construction inspection and maintain road database with County Road Administration Board.
• Oversee grant management research and administration.
• Manage County road, trail, and drainage projects from route selection through design, bidding and construction contract management.
• Direct consultant rating of the County road system.
• Perform other duties as directed.
