Job summary

Qualifications

• Knowledge of equipment, materials and supplies used in building, grounds and street maintenance and repair.
• Knowledge of proper use of hand and power tools used for minor repairs.
• Skilled in use and care of tools, equipment, and safety devices.

Responsibilities

• Assists with organization and operations of the Public Works Operations Department.
• Mows and maintains cemeteries, parks, open spaces, rights-of-way and alleys.
• Repairs sprinkler systems and installs sprinkler lines/heads.
• Operates tractors, mowers and other equipment.
• Plants and maintains lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers; performs seeding and watering.
• Maintains park facilities and restrooms; cleans and maintains drinking fountains.
• Cleans, repairs or replaces park tables and slabs.
• Opens/closes facilities and sets up events.
• Performs custodial duties and facility support, including cleaning and restocking restrooms.
• Performs semi-skilled interior building maintenance and general trades tasks.
• Collects and disposes of solid waste; picks up litter.
• Patches roads and performs concrete work; drainage and culvert work.
• Installs street signs and markings; assists in new park facilities construction.
• Maintains records of work completed and keeps skills up to date.
