Job summary

The City of Elk Grove Public Works Department is seeking skilled Maintenance Technician I/II to maintain streets, traffic devices, and related infrastructure. You will perform maintenance, repairs, and operation of varied equipment with emphasis on safety and efficiency.

Positions range from entry-level I to II, with responsibilities including sign installation, patching, drainage work, and collaboration with the team to keep public works systems in good condition.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of maintenance of streets, roadways, and traffic devices.
• Familiar with safety regulations, permits, and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret traffic control plans and standards.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Operate and perform maintenance on motorized equipment and tools.
• Install, repair, and maintain traffic signs, markings, and signals.
• Maintain logs and records of work performed and materials used.
• Support maintenance of drainage, landscaping, and public facilities.
