Job summary

The City of Manhattan Kansas is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join Public Works. This regular, non-exempt role supports street, traffic, stormwater, wastewater, and water distribution maintenance, performing repairs, equipment operation, and safety duties.

Starting wage is $21.60-$25.93 per hour, DOQ, with Monday–Friday, 7:00AM–3:30PM shifts. Applicants must have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and obtain a CDL with airbrakes/tanker within 90 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Class A CDL with airbrakes and tanker endorsement within 90 days of employment.
• Work Zone certification for Traffic division within 24 months of employment.
• Two years relevant construction experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy equipment and use power/hand tools.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Maintain safe worksites with warning devices and protective gear.
• Respond to inquiries and maintain records of work completed.
• Collaborate with contractors and attend trainings as required.
