Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking a maintenance helper to assist with city fleet vehicles and equipment. Starting hourly wage ranges from $21.60 to $25.93, DOQ, with typical hours Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. The role includes on-call duties and on-site work to support department vehicle services.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL within 90 days, and OSHA 10 certification within 12 months. Prior automotive service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Equipment Mechanics and support vehicle maintenance.
• Perform pickups and deliveries for city fleet vehicles.
• Maintain records of parts, mileage, and vehicle numbers.
• Follow safety procedures when handling hazardous materials.
• Attend required meetings and training; prepare reports.
