Job summary

The City of Burien is seeking a reliable Maintenance Worker II to support a variety of maintenance and operational activities within the Public Works Department. This full-time, field-based role performs hands-on work in the streets division, including maintenance of streets, drainage, and right-of-way areas.

Under supervision, you will operate heavy equipment, perform safety inspections, and assist in planning annual maintenance programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Two years of public works maintenance, repair, and construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of streets, rights-of-way, drainage systems, and related infrastructure.
• Operate a variety of vehicles and equipment including jackhammer, backhoe, and dump truck.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair irrigation systems and drainage facilities.
• Respond to emergency call-outs and ensure safety around worksites.
• Prepare reports and maintain records of maintenance activities.
