Job summary

The City of Burien is seeking a reliable Maintenance Worker II to support a variety of maintenance and operational activities within the Public Works Department. This full-time role performs hands-on work in the streets division, including repairs to streets, drainage, and related infrastructure.

Under the direction of the Street & Stormwater Maintenance Manager or Lead, you will operate heavy equipment, perform routine maintenance, and assist in annual maintenance planning while meeting safety

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent AND two years of public works maintenance, repair, and construction experience.
An equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the knowledge and skills to perform the essential function of the job.

Responsibilities

Maintains City streets, rights-of-way, and surface drainage systems.
Operates vehicles and a range of heavy equipment for construction and maintenance tasks.
Responds to emergency call-out situations.
Performs routine safety inspections and basic repairs on equipment.
Inspects roadways to determine maintenance needs.
Prepares and maintains records and reports.
