The City of Dearborn Heights is seeking a Light Equipment Operator to support the Public Works Department. The role involves operating light to heavy equipment, performing safety inspections, and assisting with street and facility maintenance in outdoor environments.

Requires a Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and a high school diploma. This is a union, hourly position with overtime eligibility and a generous benefit package after 90 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid State of Michigan Commercial Driver's License - Class B with an Air Brake Endorsement.
• Must meet Civil Service driving standards and pass required exams.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and operate light- to heavy-duty vehicles and machinery.
• Perform safety checks and routine maintenance on trucks, loaders, tractors, and equipment.
• Load, transport, and remove debris from streets and city facilities.
• Assist with event setup and city-sponsored activities as needed.
