Job summary

City of Suffolk is seeking a Civil Engineering Support Technician to assist with public works permit processes, right-of-way coordination, and infrastructure data management to meet GASB-34 standards. You will support preparing reports, distributing documentation, and maintaining roadway data files, while collaborating with engineers, developers, and the public.

A valid driver’s license is required for field tasks.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a two-year college or technical school with major work in civil engineering or related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in civil engineering, surveying or related field; or equivalent combination.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation and distribution of project correspondence and documentation.
• Coordinate engineering programs and handle general inquiries from the public.
• Research, review and update project plans; close permits and maintain records.
• Operate GPS system to establish infrastructure database and support roadway data files.
• Interact with various groups including engineers, developers, contractors and the public.
• Provide information to inquiries and assist with permit processes.
