City of Suffolk is seeking a semi-skilled laborer for the Public Works Department to maintain streets, curbs and sidewalks, patch asphalt, and operate heavy equipment. The role involves hands-on road construction, drainage installation, and snow removal during winter.

Preferred candidates graduated from high school with 5–11 months of prior laborer experience in maintenance/roadway construction and a valid driver’s license. Work may require strenuous activity in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• High school graduation required or equivalent.
• 5 to 11 months as a laborer in maintenance/roadway construction or equivalent experience.

Responsabilités

• Maintain and repair streets, curbs, and sidewalks; grade and pave new streets and patch existing surfaces.
• Operate heavy equipment for digging, loading, compacting asphalt, and distributing tar.
• Install/repair storm drainage, curbs, gutters; finish concrete; landscape roadways; install curveboards.
• Clean ditches and storm drains.
• Operate snow removal equipment and keep streets clear.
• Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.
