Howard County Government is seeking a semi-skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to support the County's Highway network. The role involves driving dump trucks, operating loaders and other equipment, and performing maintenance tasks across road projects.

A valid CDL Class B is required, with the potential for loader/roller operation and flagger duties as needed. The position emphasizes safety, adherence to traffic regulations, and readiness for emergency weather operations.

Formación

• Education and experience equivalent to tenth grade and one year operating large dump trucks.
• CDL Class B license required.
• Flagger program certification may be required.
• Willingness to perform heavy labor in adverse weather conditions.

Responsabilidades

• Operate dump trucks and transport sand, stone, pipe, tools, and materials for road work.
• Operate forklifts and loaders; handle other heavy equipment as needed.
• Perform highway maintenance, patching roads and shoulders.
• Direct traffic, perform flagging duties, and operate striping/maintenance vehicles.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment; perform routine maintenance and logs.
• Record equipment usage and maintenance reports; coordinate work with team.
• May supervise or guide other staff and respond to emergencies during weather events.
