Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; three years of experience in construction, repair, and/or maintenance of public infrastructure.
• Must possess a valid Georgia Class B CDL; some assignments may require Class A CDL and/or endorsements; flagging certification within required timeframe.
• Ability to demonstrate proficiency operating track and large rubber-tired equipment; learn and follow county policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Operates track and rubber-tired heavy equipment for construction and maintenance projects on county roads and infrastructure.
• Performs digging, grading, loading, and material movement; navigates around traffic, crew, and obstacles; adheres to safety guidelines.
• Operates excavator, track hoe, backhoe, loader, motor-grader, scraper, bulldozer, and compactor as needed to meet project specs.
• Inspects and maintains equipment daily; performs light maintenance and refueling; secures vehicles after use.
• Transports, loads, unloads materials; assists with manual labor tasks and site clean-up.
• Follows safety procedures and monitors work area; communicates with supervisor and crew; completes forms and documentation.
