Job summary

The City of Opa-locka seeks a skilled operator to drive heavy-duty trucks and run a range of construction/maintenance equipment for Public Works projects. Tasks include safe vehicle operation on streets and highways, plus handling related manual labor and tool use as needed.

Employees work under supervision with opportunities for lead responsibilities and require a valid Florida Class B CDL. A high school diploma or GED is required, with prior heavy equipment experience highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school, vocational school or GED or equivalent.
• Considerable paid experience in operating heavy trucks and Public Works construction/maintenance equipment; including some medium equipment operators training (bobcat, trencher, graders, backhoe, loaders).
• Possession of a valid Florida Class 'B' Commercial Driver's License with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy-duty trucks on public streets and highways.
• Operate diverse motorized construction/maintenance equipment.
• Work under supervision with some initiative, potentially in lead roles over others.
• Perform related manual labor and operate tools in conjunction with equipment.
