Job summary

The City of Colonial Heights is seeking a Public Works Heavy Equipment Operator to operate heavy and light equipment for streets, drainage, and water/wastewater facilities. This full-time role includes responding to public inquiries and performing related duties as needed.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years of related experience, or an associate's degree with less experience, and must hold a valid CDL.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years related work experience.
• Associate's degree with <2 years related experience also acceptable.
• Must possess an appropriate Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy and light equipment to construct, maintain, and repair streets, roadways, and drainage.
• 2) Responds to public inquiries and addresses concerns.
• 3) Excavates water/sewer lines and digs trenches for line installation.
• 4) Performs landscaping and other duties as assigned.
• 5) Removes blockages and debris from streets and roadways.
• 6) Supports public works projects as needed.
