Job summary

The Dougherty County Public Works department is seeking an Equipment Operator to operate heavy equipment and perform preventative maintenance as part of Environmental Control and Public Works.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of experience with light equipment, and a valid state driver’s license. You will log work, assist in road construction, and help with park maintenance and traffic direction.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience operating light equipment.
• Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving history.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and lift up to 50–100 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Operates heavy equipment such as buses, loaders, tractors, mowers and more.
• Keeps logs and files reports as required.
• Performs park maintenance: mowing, edging, weeding, irrigation, carpentry, and repairs.
• Assists in road construction and directs traffic at worksites.
• Performs preventative maintenance on equipment and related tasks.
