Job summary

The City of Ann Arbor offers a trainee program where you will receive on-the-job training, including obtaining your CDL. Trainees will transition into a regular role upon successful completion of classroom and field training.

This opportunity provides hands-on experience in street maintenance, utility work and solid waste operations. You will learn to operate equipment, follow safety protocols, and use Cityworks and MISS DIG procedures while progressing toward a CDL-A with N endorsement within 9

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must obtain CDL-A with N endorsement within 9 months of hire; CDL training paid by City.

Responsibilities

• Use electronic mapping to navigate routes and job sites.
• Operate light to heavy equipment for street maintenance and related tasks.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues; determine corrective actions.
• Attend safety courses and maintain compliance with safety practices.
• Learn MISS DIG procedures and apply them to projects.
• Track activities using Cityworks work order system.
• Assist in installing and maintaining water and sewer infrastructure.
