Job summary

Pinellas County is seeking Field Inspector 1 (3 Positions) to inspect a range of public works, utilities, and building construction projects at the Public Works Complex in Clearwater, FL. The role requires evaluating plans, coordinating field tests, and ensuring compliance with county standards.

Schedule is Monday–Friday with potential nights, weekends, or holidays. A valid Florida driver's license is required, and overtime or emergency shifts may be necessary.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in public works, utilities, or building construction.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
• Employee may be required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or flexible schedules.
• Assignment to work varied schedules including emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Inspect complex road construction and check plans for proposed work.
• Assist contractors and engineers in interpreting plans; coordinate tests and update plans for as-builts.
• Review site plans with contractors and inspect for compliance with approved plans and specifications.
• Inspect sewer construction projects; verify controls and workmanship meet specifications.
• Inspect water/sewer line installations for compliance with county requirements.
• Inspect private utility installations to determine permit compliance.
• Act as liaison between designers and contractors; sample construction materials for lab tests.
• Periodically inspect dredge or fill projects and report violations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
