Job summary

The City of Opa-locka is seeking a Public Works Director, a senior executive responsible for planning, administration, supervision, coordination, and overall management of the City of Opa-locka's Public Works Department.

The Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of municipal infrastructure and essential public services, including streets and roadways, water distribution, wastewater collection, stormwater drainage, public facilities, grounds maintenance, fleet

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration or related field.
• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible public works experience.
• Five or more years of supervisory/management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate all operations, programs, personnel, and activities assigned to the Public Works Department.
• Provide executive leadership and supervision to managers, superintendents, supervisors, and administrative staff.
• Establish departmental goals, performance measures, and strategic priorities.
• Develop, implement, and enforce departmental policies and internal controls.
• Coordinate with other city departments and external agencies on infrastructure projects.
• Prepare regular reports to the City Manager detailing projects, challenges, and accomplishments.
