Job summary

The City of Florissant is seeking a highly qualified Director of Public Works to lead the Public Works Department, overseeing four divisions: Health, Street, Building, and Engineering; responsible for overall leadership, administration, and strategic direction.

The Director will supervise divisions, manage major projects, oversee budgets, and represent the City in public relations while supporting emergency preparedness efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required.
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience in Public Works management, construction or engineering; seven years preferred.
• Supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all Public Works divisions and personnel
• Plan, oversee, and administer major public works projects
• Develop and manage departmental budgets and provide fiscal oversight
• Advise and support the Mayor on Public Works initiatives
• Perform public relations functions on behalf of the Department and City
• Evaluate Public Works needs and develop short- and long-range plans
• Assist with City emergency preparedness planning and response
• Any other duties requested

Education
