Job summary

The City of Jackson is accepting applications for the Department of Public Works Maintenance Worker in Jackson, Michigan. This full-time position requires mid-level experience and offers a defined salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED with four or more years of routine operation and maintenance of dump trucks, backhoes, and related equipment.
• Must demonstrate working knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in operation and maintenance of machinery, troubleshooting techniques, and basic mechanics and electricity.
• Must possess valid Michigan Class "A" Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six months of hire and maintain licensure during employment.

Responsibilities

• Read and comprehend equipment manuals for operation and maintenance of machinery.
• Operate trucks to haul materials and personnel for maintenance and construction projects.
• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and machinery at treatment plants and pumping stations.
• Maintain and clean work areas, equipment, tools, and maintenance vehicles.
