Job summary

The City of Muskogee is seeking a Public Works Equipment Operator I to support Streets Division duties, including maintenance of water distribution systems, streets and sewers, and operation of a wide range of light to medium construction equipment. This on-site role requires a valid Oklahoma Class B CDL within nine months and demonstrated ability to read plans and follow instructions.

Regular reporting to the Streets Maintenance Leader II and teamwork with the Streets Maintenance Worker II are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; two years of trades helper or maintenance laborer experience preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications; follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to operate varied light to medium construction equipment and use manual tools safely.

Responsibilities

• Participates in repair and replacement of hydrants, valves, lines, meters and boxes.
• Operates backhoe, loader, and other equipment listed in the duties.
• Performs pipefitting, plumbing, carpentry, painting and mowing as needed.
• Engages in general manual labor and assists with maintenance tasks.
• Reports to work regularly and on time.
