Job summary

The City of Manhattan Kansas is seeking an Equipment Operator to maintain city infrastructure and support maintenance teams. This role demands operating heavy equipment on roadways, drainage systems, and sewer projects, while documenting data and managing site safety.

A valid CDL Class A with Airbrakes and Tanker endorsements is required, with NASSCO PACP certification or the ability to obtain within six months.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• One (1) year experience operating heavy equipment and knowledge of proper preventative maintenance for heavy equipment.
• Valid Class A commercial driver’s license with Airbrakes and Tanker endorsement.
• Wastewater Section-specific: NASSCO PACP Certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates a variety of heavy equipment including bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, graders, skid steer loaders, trenchers, sewer jet trucks, SLRAT, CCTV cameras, and loaders.
• Performs repair, installation, construction, and maintenance duties related to roadways, bridges, drainage systems, and sanitary sewers.
• Documents and produces accurate reports and enters data into databases per SOPs.
• Transports equipment and materials to work sites and sets up traffic control.
• Assists with seasonal and emergency maintenance as required.
