Job summary

The City of Manhattan is seeking an Equipment Operator to join our maintenance teams. This role performs heavy equipment operations and assists in public infrastructure projects, with a focus on roadways, drainage and sanitary systems.

Workweeks run Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Starting salary ranges from $23.34 to $28.01 per hour, DOE, with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for advancement.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• One year experience operating heavy equipment or demonstrate proficiency via field competency test.
• Valid Class A CDL with Airbrakes and Tanker endorsement.
• NASSCO PACP certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Operates bulldozers, backhoes, excavators, graders, skid steer loaders, trenchers, pipe-tapping machines, sewer jet trucks and CCTV equipment as needed.
• Repairs, installs, constructs, and maintains roadways, bridges, drainage and sewer systems.
• Documents reports and asset data, entering data into SOP-compliant databases.
• Transports equipment and materials to work sites and loads/unloads as required.
• Sets up proper traffic control and conducts seasonal and emergency maintenance.
