Job summary

Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners in Florida is seeking a highly responsible, technical supervisor for the operation of all public works projects in the County. The role requires organizing, planning, directing and coordinating activities with independent professional judgment.

The successful candidate will design, review, and inspect storm drainage, roads, bridges and solid waste facilities; plan and supervise improvements; and provide technical guidance to staff and consultants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university; PE eligibility within 3 years.
• Thorough knowledge of modern techniques and practices in engineering and public works.

Responsibilities

• Design, review, and inspection of storm drainage systems, roads, streets, bridges, curbs and gutters, solid waste facilities and other public works projects.
• Emphasis on street and drainage design, construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and review of subdivisions and site plans.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise public works improvements and supervise staff engaged in operations.
• Attends and participates in conferences and meetings as directed.
• Performs related work as required.
