Charlotte County Board of County Commissioners is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to manage and operate multiple types of heavy equipment used in road construction and maintenance. The role requires adapting to workload with varying machines and performing manual labor when not operating equipment.

Candidates should have experience with safe operation and basic repairs, and be able to work under supervision to meet project deadlines and county regulations.

Qualifications

• Three years of responsible experience operating varied heavy equipment in road work.
• Thorough knowledge of safe, efficient operation and care of heavy road construction equipment.
• Ability to operate equipment under all weather conditions.
• Ability to perform minor repairs and assist in general repairs.
• Ability to perform physical labor when not operating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates a motor-grader, grading right-of-way and new construction.
• Operates dragline, track hoe, loading trucks, clearing ditches, and constructing turnoffs.
• Operates other equipment when necessary to maintain work schedule, including all other equipment required of lower positions.
• Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor including laborer and semi-skilled assignments during slack or seasonal periods.
• Perform manual work associated with equipment usage.
