Job summary

The City of Manhattan Beach is seeking an experienced Electrician to join the Public Works Department - Utilities Division. Under supervision, you will install, maintain and repair electrical wiring systems across City facilities and equipment.

You will perform routine maintenance, read blueprints, estimate costs, and supervise helpers while ensuring safety and compliance with electrical codes. Shift work including weekends or holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited apprenticeship-training program in the electrical trade with two years of journey level electrician experience; instrumentation experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install electrical conduits, test for defects, replace worn wiring and fixtures.
• Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment.
• Inspect and repair electrical systems including pumps, motors, and switchgear.
• Read blueprints and schematic diagrams and estimate job costs.
• Supervise helpers and coordinate with vendors/contractors.
