Job summary

The Town of Mooresville seeks an experienced Public Works Director to guide essential municipal infrastructure and services for a fast-growing North Carolina community.

Reporting to the Assistant Town Manager for Public Services and Operations, this role leads stormwater, solid waste/recycling, and streets, with an FY27 budget around $13M and ~50 FTEs. PE preferred; salary range $135,000–$150,000 depending on qualifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• Seven years of experience in a responsible management position in public works, utilities, or related municipal operations.
• Professional Engineering (PE) certification in North Carolina is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning and operations for the Town’s Public Works Division.
• Oversee budgets, contracts, and personnel across stormwater, solid waste/recycling, and streets.
• Provide technical guidance to Town leadership and implement infrastructure investments to support growth.
