Job summary

The Town of Mooresville is seeking a Public Works Director to provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Public Works Division. This role will plan, organize, and direct essential municipal services and infrastructure investments to support Mooresville’s growth.

The Director will manage budgets, contracts, and staff, ensuring delivery of services such as stormwater, solid waste/recycling, and streets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Professional Engineering (PE) certification in the State of North Carolina is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Town’s Public Works Division.
• Plan, organize, and direct essential municipal services including stormwater, solid waste/recycling, and streets.
• Lead infrastructure investments to support Mooresville’s growth and manage budgets, contracts, and staff.
• Collaborate with Town leadership and Town Manager to align operations with community needs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field

Master's degree preferred

Professional Engineering (PE) certification in North Carolina preferred
