Job summary

City of Irving is seeking a Civil Engineer for the Capital Improvement Program. You will design and prepare contracts and drawings for water, wastewater, roadways, and drainage projects under licensed supervision.

Responsibilities include overseeing construction, site investigations, and pre-bid meetings, plus mentoring engineering staff and coordinating across city departments. A PE license in Texas is required or obtainable soon.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and three years of directly related experience is required.
• Texas Professional Engineer license (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe) and a valid Texas Driver's License are required.
• Résumé must be submitted with application.
• Technical experience with HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ArcGIS, and AutoCAD Civil3D is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs, contracts and drawings for water, wastewater, roadway paving and drainage projects under supervision.
• Assist in site investigations and manage construction phase of capital improvement projects.
• Conduct pre-bid meetings and provide answers about construction sequencing, safety and materials.
• Provide oversight to engineering technicians and city surveyors on technical software; train staff.
