Job summary

The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) regulates the intrastate rates and services of utilities across Kentucky. The Utility Inspector II will inspect public water and sewer utilities for compliance with PSC laws and regulations, and analyze information into concise written reports.

Responsibilities include inspections, investigating incidents, testifying in hearings, and continuous training. A bachelor's or associate degree in a relevant field plus two years of utility experience are

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in industrial or engineering technology, fire science or a related field.
• Two years of experience in operation, regulation, safety or engineering design of a utility or utility-related industry.
• Related technical or vocational school training can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Two years experience in operation, regulation, safety or engineering design of a utility or utility-related industry can substitute for the required education.

Responsibilities

• Assists in technical and operational inspections of Kentucky’s public water and sewer facilities for compliance with codes, laws, and regulations.
• Assists in investigations of accidents and complaints involving public water and sewer utilities.
• Analyzes and documents investigative/inspection data into a written report.
• Gives testimony before the Commission during hearings and in court related to inspections, complaints and accident reports.
• Completes required training courses and sessions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
