Job summary

The Louisiana Public Service Commission is seeking an investigative and enforcement professional for the Baton Rouge, LA area to interpret and enforce PSC rules governing public utilities and motor carriers. This role covers District 3 with responsibilities across multiple parishes and travel to meet consumers and utility personnel.

The ideal candidate will have related experience or education, plus a Louisiana driver’s license, and will work 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday–Friday within a state

Qualifications

• Three years of experience enforcing State rules for motor carriers or public utilities (or in law enforcement).
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience substitution: every 30 semester hours earned equals one year of experience, max 120 semester hours for four years.
• Possession of a current Louisiana driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Works independently with knowledge of industries regulated by the LPSC and applicable rules.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with utility officials, federal/state agencies, and the public.
• Investigates complex customer utility complaints and mediates disputes.
• Investigates complaints of illegal activity requiring field inspections.
• Maintains knowledge of Transportation Division policies.
• Maintains a Daily Vehicle Log of travel in the state vehicle.
