Job summary

Westmoreland County Transit Authority is seeking qualified bus operators to transport passengers according to scheduled routes and timetables. You will become familiar with the fleet, complete required safety reports, and ensure passenger safety throughout the day.

Responsibilities include pre-trip and post-trip inspections, uniform compliance, and assisting riders, including those with disabilities, while maintaining professional communication with dispatch and passengers.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and understand mapping to follow routes and schedules.
• Demonstrates strong safety awareness and compliance with DOT rules.
• Proven customer service skills and professional communication with passengers.

Responsibilities

• Operate a public transit vehicle on assigned routes and timetables.
• Familiarize with fleet equipment and adapt to new vehicles as purchased.
• Prepare for daily runs by reviewing assignments and communicating irregularities.
• Perform pre-trip inspections and complete prescribed reports for safety.
• Execute post-trip inspections and upkeep vehicle cleanliness per Authority standards.
• Assist passengers with disabilities according to protocol and operate accessibility devices.
