Community College of Baltimore County is seeking a Library Technician II, Public Services to support student access to library facilities and resources. The role requires knowledge of standard library procedures and proficiency with common office and library systems.

The position involves assisting with circulation, guiding students in using educational platforms, and maintaining orderly records and a welcoming library environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma/GED with 3 years relevant experience or an Associate’s degree with 1 year relevant experience.
• Preferred: customer service experience and knowledge of library software.
• Preferred: Associate’s Degree in Library and Information Technology.
• Preferred: Library Paraprofessional and Support Staff Certification or Microsoft Fundamentals/Office Specialist certificate.
• If the candidate does not have these preferred requirements, one will be required within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer service and high-quality circulation and access services to all students and visitors.
• Provide introductory guidance and troubleshooting to students using Brightspace, Microsoft Office, student email, and Simon.
• Assist library customers with library computers, copiers, printers, and other technology.
• Maintain organized records and files; contribute to documentation; record statistics; submit reports on time.
• Maintain a clean, welcoming library environment for collaboration and quiet study.
• Perform circulation duties using library service platform software.
• Shelve, pull, shelf-read, shift collections, complete inventories, and assist with collection projects.
• Collaborate to facilitate use of collections and library spaces in programming, outreach, and displays.
