Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's Harry Ransom Center is seeking a Library Assistant II to support public and staff access to its manuscript, photograph, and book collections on UT's Main Campus.

Responsibilities include shelving, desk duties, assisting patrons with requests, and helping with classroom setup and cross-department projects, with Saturday shifts required and a 40-hour week.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED with library experience or college coursework per UT requirements.
• Weekend availability including Saturdays as part of the schedule.
• Experience working in a library, handling patrons and shelves is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Locates, shelves, and reshelves manuscripts, books, photography, and other materials for patrons.
• Performs Circulation Desk functions and backups at Reception.
• Assists patrons with requests for duplication orders of collection materials.
• After training, performs basic preservation tasks and assists with material handling.
• Answers questions in the Reading Room and may help with orientations for new patrons.
• Assists with training Work Study students and Student Assistants.
