University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Library Assistant II for the Harry Ransom Center on the UT Main Campus. The role focuses on public service in the Reading Room, shelving and retrieving materials, and assisting with circulation and classroom support.

Responsibilities include handling fragile collections, assisting with class materials, and supporting staff with preservation tasks, while maintaining a welcoming, accessible environment for researchers.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED with library experience or college credit with library experience.
• Ability to substitute education and experience as appropriate.

Responsabilités

• Locates, shelves, and reshelves manuscripts, books, photography, art, and other materials for patrons in a closed-stacks library.
• Performs Circulation Desk functions and serves as desk back-up and reception.
• Assists patrons with duplication requests and processing orders.
• Performs basic preservation tasks and handles materials with care.
• Answers questions and may assist with orientation for new patrons.
• Trains Work Study students and Student Assistants.
• Pulls materials for classrooms and assists with setup and instruction.
• Supports cross-departmental projects and other duties as assigned.

Formation

High school graduation or GED + library experience

Sixty hours of college credit + library experience

Twelve hours of graduate coursework in Library and Information Science
