Job summary

The City of Tarpon Springs is seeking a proactive Public Works Director to plan and direct programs across utilities, golf, recreation, cemetery, and environmental initiatives. You will supervise staff, manage budgets, and coordinate capital planning and CIP projects with emphasis on water and sewer systems and sustainability.

This senior role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to present complex analyses to staff and boards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, environmental science, biology or related discipline or eight years of technical public works/public utilities experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct programs and projects within Public Services Divisions with emphasis on water and sewer utilities and sustainability.
• Provide leadership to department staff, prepare budgets, and coordinate capital planning and environmental programs.
• Direct, coordinate, and supervise operational and administrative phases of department projects including utilities, golf-course, recreation, cemetery, and customer service.
• Assist Director in emergency management duties and citywide sustainability initiatives as needed.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology or related discipline or eight years of technical public works/public utilities related experience
