Job summary

City of Irvine is seeking a Graphic Designer – Community Engagement Specialist II Apprentice for a full-time, limited-term program in Irvine, CA. Starting pay is $29.61/hour with a 14-month framework and potential post-program opportunities.

The role emphasizes professional design work, coordination with printing and publications, and support for the City’s Communication & Engagement Department, with mentorship via the One Irvine Workforce Apprenticeship Program.

Qualifications

Associate’s degree in graphic arts or closely related field.
Must design independently using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Three years of graphics production experience or equivalent knowledge/skills.
May require a valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

Conceptualize and design layouts and artwork for flyers, brochures, booklets, social media graphics, signage, awards, reports, and newsletters.
Coordinate printing and quoting of brochures, fliers, posters, and other publications, and prepare print-ready art files.
Design and prepare graphs, charts, diagrams, and maps to illustrate data.
Assist in coordinating activities with reprographics unit, printers, photographers, editors, and suppliers.
Perform a variety of administrative duties and maintain records of work requests and completed projects.
May photograph events, programs, and activities.
