Job summary

City of Irvine is offering the One Irvine Workforce Community Development Field Services Assistant Apprentice position. This full-time, limited-term role provides administrative and field support to the Code Enforcement and Inspection teams, with an emphasis on customer service and community engagement.

The Apprenticeship is grant-funded through the California Volunteers Youth Service Corps, including professional development and mentorship.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of customer service experience, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California driver's license.

Responsibilities

Public Outreach: Educate and inform stakeholders about codes, ordinances, and regulations.
Administrative Support: Prioritize tasks to ensure efficient daily operations.
Complaint Intake: Conduct initial interviews and determine appropriate steps.
Field Support: Assist code enforcement officers during on-site inspections.
Technical Inspections: Support inspectors in evaluating structures and building systems for compliance.
Permit Review: Assist in reviewing construction permits and plans to ensure compliance.
