The Washington State Attorney General's Office Port Angeles division seeks an experienced attorney to represent the Department of Children, Youth and Families in dependency proceedings and guardianship matters. The role emphasizes applying ICWAs and managing a broad caseload with independence and sound judgment.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an ABA-accredited law school and licensed to practice law in Washington.
• Ability to manage a large caseload with efficiency and independent judgment.
• Strong written and oral communication with diverse client agencies.

Responsibilities

• Represent the Department of Children, Youth and Families in dependency and termination of parental rights cases.
• Apply the Indian Child Welfare Act and Washington ICWA to juvenile cases.
• Review petitions, briefs and reports and prepare witnesses and evidence for hearings.
• Communicate with social workers, agency employees and guardians ad litem to resolve issues.
• Demonstrate time management across 80+ active cases and adapt to changing workloads.
