Eagle County Government is seeking a Senior Accountant to act as a financial SME, guiding core operations, leading audits, and ensuring GASB compliance. The role reports to the finance leadership and supports budgeting and policy development while maintaining high integrity and transparency in public resources.

Qualified candidates bring a CPA/CPFO or equivalent, 7+ years in accounting, and strong reporting skills with ERP experience such as New World.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, or equivalent education/experience.
• MBA preferred for advanced analysis and leadership responsibilities.
• 7+ years in accounting/financial reporting with audits experience.
• Experience preparing annual comprehensive financial reports or audits.
• CPA or CPFO certification preferred.

Responsabilités

• Audit & Compliance Management: lead external audit preparations and liaise with auditors.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regs and refine internal controls.
• Financial Operations & Reporting: manage month-end/year-end close; provide budget analysis and enforce GAAP.
• Technical Accounting & Problem Solving: act as in-house SME for complex topics; research and advise on solutions.
• Debt Management & Financing: oversee debt compliance, disclosures, and bond rating evaluations; assist CFO on capital borrowings.
• GASB Implementation & Standards: track, analyze, and implement GASB pronouncements; document updated procedures.
• Policy & Budget Support: evaluate/enhance financial policies; assist with budget development and forecasting.
• Leadership & Operations: guide finance staff; ensure safety; embody Eagle County’s mission.
